⬤ Brief description
No matter what the sound is,
each sound carries information
The Human-Voice ensemble has created a form of performance called “Being, towards the sheer senses”. This project is meant to be practical research on the foundations of voice and prehistoric/cultural communication. The performance can be understood as a gateway to sensation. This performance ought to be an encounter between the performers and the audience. It forms a web of communications through sounds that makes several simultaneous relations. It’s all about breaching the accepted cultural and social behaviors. It’s all about many different forgotten people and their ways of living. It’s about our kind, our BEING in many different sounds, and the beginning of time. It is a form of an aural expedition in which the audience, listeners, will have their unique aural journey.
The “BEING” is a 30~40-minute integrated performance based on detailed structures, in which there will be many improvisations. It is a live performance, a live confrontation between a group of people, and an improvised section will be affected by it. “BEING” will be permanently changed and kept alive in the presence of different cities, audiences, venues, times, etc.
⬤ Humans as a species
Natural selection
favors a certain sound
for each communication.
The communicative signals of living organisms have a special mission, and that is to express emotional states, which can be considered as a motivation for the behavior of others.
When animals communicate, they use every sensory ability they have and bring them into the communication cycle with full force.
⬤ an aural journey
putting our focus on
changing the way we interact
with our surroundings.
The audience sits or lies on the floor, in any indoor or outdoor venue away from urban noises, and the performers surround them. They are all in the same place and time; as the same species. The venue has no lighting, and only occasionally streaks of light and colors are projected into the space by video projectors. Then the journey slowly begins.
Performers who rely entirely on their senses and emotions create a web of different sounds in communication with each other. The audience will be at the center of this sound dome. These primal sounds are full of living physical vibrations that can directly enter the audience’s perception and senses, creating an immediate, multi-layered connection with them.
This is an aural journey that sets aside all learned social and cultural behaviors, and is an attempt at an honest and living connection beyond all differences. Since each performance is held in varied venues, in different biological times and in the presense of new people, it would be novel and alive.
